Swimming
Swimming lesson. In the hot summer, that lesson is probably salvation for many people. But it sure is an unpleasant time for people like me who cannot swim huh.
“Yo, Kazunari”
“Huh? Renya, what is the matter?”
Renya showed up as I was resting in the shades by the poolside since it was free time. He should have been playing with the class’ kids in the pool up until just now though.
“Well, I ran away since it turned into a grumbling fest of how it’d be great if it were together with girls”
“Aah, I see”
In our school, the swimming lesson is separate for the males and females. It was together up until a few years ago, but they apparently changed it after receiving grievances from the PTA¹. I suppose that is precisely why the guys are unnecessarily finding it a pity though.
“I understand those feelings as well, but if I had to say, I wish they would get rid of the swimming lesson”
“I thought you would say that. Although I understand those feelings as well……those fellows are probably most definitely going to ogle at the Committee Chairperson”
“I think they will lookー”
“That’s why I’m glad the males and females are separate”
I see; Renya hates for Nishikida-san to be seen with those eyes by other guys, so he approves of it being separate huh. It is true that Nisikida-san has proportions that guys would like after all.
“How about you then”
“About what?”
“Are you fine with Nakamatsu-san being looked at in such a manner?
“I would hate it”
I was asked something absurd by Renya, and I ended up answering instinctively without thinking. Maybe because my response was all too quick, Renya was surprised as well.
“Is that something like, ‘only show that side of you to me’?”
“What are you saying. I just simply thought that Yae would also hate to be looked at with such eyes”
“Then you’re saying it’s fine for Nakamatsu-san to show it if it’s to someone she likes?”
“It is obviously fine, isn’t it”
The moment I answered, there was a prick inside my heart. But I suppose it is probably my imagination since it went off right away.
“Hmーm. Well, whatever. Anyway, I have a little something to discuss though”
“What is it?”
Renya wanted to say something for a moment there, but in the end, he ended up changing the subject without saying anything. I am slightly curious, but I ignore it since it feels weird to ask him again.
“I want to go to your house and play this weekend”
“My house?”
This came out of nowhere as well huh. He usually holds back because Yae is around……ah, but this weekend means
“I hear Nakamatsu-san will be staying over at the Committee Chairperson’s house. I wanted to eat Kazunari’s handmade meal for the first time in a while as well, and I thought that I wanted to stay over again since it was a good opportunity”
“I see; that is how it is huh”
He heard through the Committee Chairperson that, if it is this weekend, then Yae will not be around huh. That’s why he says he wants to take this opportunity to stay over again.
“I am fine with it. I need to ask Yae, but she will probably say it is fine”
“Hell yeah. I’m looking forward to a delicious meal!”
Renya said and went into the pool again. It may have been in the shades, but it is summer now; I suppose he would want to stay inside the cold water.
Nevertheless, a stay over with Renya again huh. As I thought, such tiny events are exciting huh. The first semester also ends on Friday after all; I am looking forward to the weekend.
