Sports Day ①
The weather is sunny unlike two days ago, and today is the long awaited……no, rather, the day of the sports day that I did not want to arrive.
“It is clear huh……”
“Don’t be so disappointed. Just having no lessons is something to be happy about, right!?”
“No, I am happier with lessons”
Renya, whom I supposed was looking forward to the sports day, speaks to me enthusiastically beside me. It might be the best day for Renya, who hates studying, but it is one hellish day for me, who hates sports.
“It’s fine since you’ll basically only be cheering, isn’t it”
“Let’s do our best?”
“……it is exactly what the two of you said. I guess I shall do what I can”
It is pointless even if I whine about it. I might even be able to take the first place for all that I know after all. No, that is going too far.

“I got first place yay!!”
“As expected”
Renya, who participated in the obstacles relay in the place of Moriya-kun, who unluckily caught a cold and ended up absent, returned with a smile from ear to ear. His grin coupled with a V sign is very refreshing……had his face not been pure white. He is in charge of the candy search1, so he is still covered with flour from that time.
“Here, use this towel. I already wet it with water”
“Ooh, thank you, Committee Chairperson!”
Nishikida-san hands a towel to Renya without a moment’s delay. This attentive part is one of her good points. It might also be because it is Renya though.
“It’s still not cleaned properly. I’ll wipe it for you, so lend me the towel for a bit”
“My bad”
“It’s fine”
I suppose they are unaware of it themselves, but they have quite a good atmosphere going. Nishikida-san, who gently wipes the powder, and Renya, who shuts his eyes and accepts it. Naturally, the distance between them is close……
“Done, er……wha, what are all of you looking at!”
Perhaps Nishikida-san noticed the classmates who are watching over them with smirks when she raises her face after she finished wiping everything, she is blushing. Perhaps Renya too became aware of what they were doing from Nishikida-san’s words, his face is turning red slightly.
“Mutsumi-chan, how boーld”
“Renya, how does it feel being wiped by Nishikida-san personally?”
Immediately, Nishikida-san was surrounded by the girls, and Renya was surrounded by the guys, including me, and teased. Renya responses jokingly despite being slightly embarrassed, and as for Nishikida-san, she is flustering.
“Renya, you may be unaware of it, but be that as it may, it is no good to flirt in front of everybody, you know”
“No, I don’t want to hear that from you of all people”
Just as I was about to join in with everybody and tease him as well, I was greeted with a serious look for some reason. The guys around are nodding silently like they agree as well. I wonder why; I do not understand.

〈Coming up next is the scavenger hunt. All participants, please gather by the entrance〉
My turn finally came around huh. I get up reluctantly.
“Kazunari, do your best! I have it if it’s a black water bottle or a white towel, alright!”
“A light blue towel and a red water bottle, I guess those are pretty much all I’ve got. Do your best!”
“Do your best”
“Well, I will do the best I can. Please do not place too much hope in the result, alright”
I will give it my all since everybody is cheering for me. I remembered what everybody in the class is currently carrying to some extent just in case, so I can probably avoid the last place if I take the shortest route.
The scavenger hunt goes in sequence from the first years, and lastly, us, the third years. So we have been looking at what kind of items make the topic, but they have mostly been orthodox items like spectacles and water bottles. As far as uncommon item goes, there was a camera.
But because it seems that it is scavenging for people instead of scavenging for items for the third years, I am doubtful of how much help it will be though. As for now, it will be a lifesaver if I can clear it with Yae, Renya, or Nishikida-san.
〈Now then, it is finally time for the third years! The boys are going first, but what is the topic going be!〉
I sort out what I need to do while ignoring the commentator’s voice. First, I will dash with full force to the paper that has the topic written. Next, I will come up with the person who can clear the topic and run towards that person. And then we will run towards the goal. Let’s do the three steps above with my all!
〈On your marks! Get set……go!〉
I reacted to the signal and started running, but, I was the last to acquire the topic. But the gap is still not that much, so a comeback is possible. My topic is……
“Yae!”
“Nn, let’s go”
I raise my voice as loud as I can and call for Yae. Yae reacted and came to my side immediately, so we carry on to hold hands and run together to the goal. It sure is extremely pathetic that it feels like I am being pulled by Yae because I am slower!!

Haa, haa……first, is it. We, did it huh.

“I’m adorable?”
“Fuu……yes, I find you adorable”
“Nn, thanks. It makes me happy”
When I catch my breath and say that, Yae shows me a vibrant smile. Uh-huh, as I thought, she sure is adorable.

Laughter erupts from the grounds when the commentator says that. It is not like we were flirting, but as one would expect, it is embarrassing. I suppose Yae is embarrassed as well since she is also blushing and looking downwards when I look beside me.
Nevertheless, I got first place huh……that makes me very happy!!
