After talking about the incident in the security guard office, we split up from Kazunari and Nakamatsu-san at the train station. It’s because Kazunari and Nakamatsu-san’s house and our house are in the opposite direction.

Mutsumi and I both sigh simultaneously after Kazunari and Nakamatsu-san’s figures are no longer in sight. Mutsumi mutters with a mildly exhausted face.
“It’s that scary when Oohata-kun gets angry huh”

As I was thinking, ‘it was the same for that time as well’, the train arrived. Luckily, there were empty seats, so both of us sat down.

Mutsumi tilted her head because I started saying something all of a sudden. That sight of her is adorable, and I ended up staring unintentionally, but I panicked because of her reply and averted my eyes.
“Of course I have. In the past, there were cases where we got angry at together because I went along with Renya-kun’s stupid games, didn’t we”
“That, that’s unrelated now……no, I guess it is. We’ll make do with that time, but when our parents got angry, it’s because it’s for our sake or that they’re worried, right”
“Yeah. They’re going to be worried that we’ll fall if we climb such a tall tree”
We liked tree climbing in the past, and both of us often climbed the trees in the park. There were occasions where I lost my footing and fell, but even now, I still remember how guilt-ridden I was by the figures of my angry parents at that time.
“That’s how it is; the anger of our parents and teachers were filled with plenty of concern and kindness. I wonder if I can say that they’re angry for our sakes?”
“I see, that I understand”
“In contrast to that, Kazunari doesn’t get angry in that manner. He warns me courteously even when I do something stupid”

Rather, doesn’t Mutsumi know too many unglamorous things about me? We may be childhood friends, but as expected, it’s embarrassing. I wonder if I should slightly reflect on my actions?

I think, ‘it’s a blessing to have somebody be angry for you¹1‘, is well said, but that anger is unlike Kazunari’s anger. I think there’s still saving while they’re angry at us because they’re getting angry with us in mind, but it’s already too late when Kazunari gets angry.
“And because we’re not used to pure unadulterated anger, we feel strangely terrified. I don’t know whether I should say that it tightens around my body, or whether I should say that it grabs my heart”
“Just now too, it was scary even though it wasn’t our fault……”
“He himself probably doesn’t have any ill intent, so don’t worry about it”

He seems to still be in a bad mood when it’s time for us to go back, it’d be great if his mood recovers by tomorrow. It’s iffy since he’s surprisingly the type to hold a grudge though.

I only witnessed Kazunari getting angry once previously. It was only during last year’s culture festival. I found Kazunari to be scary for the first time then.

This rumour itself was a reckless remark that crossed the line, and it didn’t spread that widely either. Be that as it may, a couple of people know full well about it.
“And then a certain student from the literature club tried to distribute an erotic novel about Kazunari and me on the day of the culture festival”

It really was a horrible incident. I didn’t think that I’d to be placed in such a relationship with Kazunari just because we get along. The thought process of rotten people2 is frightening.
“Be that as it may, it was explained to us, the victims. I was more inclined to feeling disgusted, but it appears that it was anger that won for Kazunari”
“Over there, you witnessed him being angry”
“It was really scary. His mouth was smiling, and yet his eyes weren’t. It conveys clear and sound even to me, who’s just beside him, that it’s saying that he’s angry”
I think why the way Kazunari is angry is scary is also partially because of the disparity between the expression his mouth and his eyes display. It goes for this time as well, even though his smile and speech weren’t different from usual, his eyes alone were boring through the other party. I didn’t see that face to face before, but I don’t ever want to……

It’s because the teacher who was present with us at that time couldn’t stop him. I wouldn’t go as far as to say that, ‘we’ll be killed if we move’, but it felt like we’ll incur his fury, so I think it can’t be helped either that we couldn’t move.
