Another Grandchild
“A request you want to make, is it?”
It’s a matter that Gurian-san is going out of the way to ask of me. It’s obviously going to be something troublesome. Most matters should be of no problem after all if he has the authority of a Cardinal.
“Aah. I’ll get straight to the point, I want you to defeat my grandchild”
Gurian-san says that so I look at Caro. Caro also looks at me and tilts her head. It feels like it’ll be tough to defeat Caro though.
“Aah, I didn’t explain enough huh. I have 3 grandchildren. I think you know 2 of them though, they’re Christina’s children, Caroline and Clifford. And there’s 1 other person, my son’s child, Gullek・Hautenbourg. He turns 15 this year”
“Aah, it’s about Gul-niisan huh”
Well, it’s a given that Caro knows huh. It’s her cousin after all. I hear about the story and apparently that grandson, Gullek, has greatly inherited Gurian-san’s talents. Especially martial arts.
However, because he accomplishes a certain degree of things flawlessly due to those great talents, it seems he doesn’t attend lessons in the academy and he’s been doing nothing but skirt-chasing. It appears that he also takes advantage of the fact that he’s highly talented in martial arts and involves himself in violent incidents, extortions and so forth.
It appears that Gurian-san has also warned him numerous times, but that grandchild of his doesn’t listen to him, doesn’t even come home and he’s even hanging out with a bad bunch.
“I’ve said that I’ll arrest Gullek whenever he causes a problem, but he doesn’t quite listen to what I say. I really am a pathetic grandfather”
Gurian-san laughs self-mockingly. Beside him, Melies-san holds Gurian-san’s hand worryingly. By the way,
“Where are the parents of that Gullek-san?”
I light-heartedly asks and
“……Aah, Gullek’s father, my son, he died in action during a skirmish with the Regalia Empire 5 years ago. His mother’s body was frail to begin with and she passed away when she gave birth to Gullek. We’re currently standing in as his parents”
……Oh damn. I went and did it. The gazes around are painful. It, it can’t be helped, right! I didn’t know after all!
“My, my apologies. Although I did not know, I had nonetheless asked about it lightly”
“No, it doesn’t matter. Seeing that I’m asking of you with Gullek’s matter, I suppose there are things that you want to verify”
Gurian-san who says and smiles at me. It’s just that it’s uncomfortable that the atmosphere feels slightly lonely.
“An, and returning to the topic, are you telling me to defeat that Gullek-san?”
“Aah, as I said before, Gullek possesses quite a bit of talent, and even amongst it, his martial arts is quite something. He doesn’t lose to those who are of the same generation as him. His capability is to the extent that he can go quite high up even within the Four Beasts Chivalric Orders. I’m saying this without any bias for my grandchild. It’s to the point that it’s harsh even for me”
Gurian-san makes a sour expression. Even when I try asking Caro, it appears that his reputation is somewhat bad even in the capital. I can’t do anything about such a fellow though.
“And what are you telling me to do?”
“I want you to beat up Gullek thoroughly. It’s because he’s confident in his strength that he’s domineering his surroundings. He doesn’t know how wide the world is because he only went to the capital from this territory. Hence, I want you to tell him that he’s weak”
It’s what they call a frog in a well huh. But, I can’t imagine that he’ll reform just from me defeating him, it also feels like it doesn’t particularly have to be me though.
“Why me?”
“As I thought, his age being close to yours plays a big part. As I’ve said before, he’s undefeated amongst those of the same generation. Even in the academy, he ends up winning even when he’s fooling around. On the other hand, even if he fights and loses to the Chivalric Orders’ elites, he says that it’s inevitable since they’re adults and gives up right from the start so it’s meaningless”
Indeed, it feels like I can understand why he relies on me when I think about it that way. As I’m asking about various other things as well, the corridor suddenly becomes boisterous. We look at each others’ faces and Gurian-san sighs, ‘again huh’. Melies-san casts her eyes down sorrowfully. After a while, the voices of people talking are also audible.
“Please wait, Gullek-sama! Right now, guests are……”
“Shut up, I’m just getting some money from the old man. Keep your mouth shut! Right, Misha”
“Yeah, are you saying that you’ll disobey this family’s grandchild, Gullek?”
, I hear such voices and the door slams open vigorously. Rather, it’s too disrespectful. If I were some other country’s leader or the likes, it’d develop into a diplomatic issue. Well, I guess they’re having soldiers be on standby so that that doesn’t happen though.
And then, the one who came in, was a man who I can tell is a gaudy man from his appearance. He wears jingly jewels and it’s somewhat irritating. A woman who wore highly revealing clothes was standing beside him. Her chest is pretty much visible, it’s too visible that it appears tasteless. I wonder if she’s a harlot somewhere? This fellow is Gullek huh.
“Oi, old man. Give me some money”
“Gullek! Do you not know that there are guests right now! How can you make such a rude entrance!”
“Shut up. Cut the bullshit and quickly give me some money. I’m going out to play with Misha from now on!”
Gullek who says that and grabs Gurian-san’s chest. Isn’t this fellow going too far.
“Sto, stop it, Gullek!”
“Ahn? Shut up, old woman!”
“Kyaa!”
It’s getting too awful so Melies-san tries to stop Gullek, but she was thrust away by Gullek, whose blood rushed to his head, instead.
“Stop it!”
In response to the overwhelming awfulness, Alexia stands up in anger. We couldn’t quietly watch either. Everybody stands up and looks at Gullek.
“What’s with you people. Don’t be meddling into our problem”
“In that case, I can, right, Gul-niisan”
“Ahn? ……Why the hell are you here, Caroline”
Gullek who seemingly notices that Caro is around for the first time now makes a puzzled look. And at the same time as that, he thrusts Gurian-san, whom he’s grabbing, away.
“Guhaa!”
“Dear!”
Melies-san who goes to the side of Gurian-san who’s thrust away. Alexia and the others and I, we almost reach the limit of our tolerance, but it looks like Caro is going to talk for a little so we endure it somehow.
“Gul-niisan. Until when are you going to do such worthless things. Don’t you think it’s embarassing? You’ve been doing such worthless things day after day ever since Gil-ojiisama1 passed away. Both Ojii-sama2 and Obaa-sama3 who are watching over you in the heavens are feeling sad”
“Shut up! You people don’t have the rights to lecture me!”
Gullek clads his fist in magic power and is about to punch at Caro. Caro is about to put up her barrier, but over there
“Wha! What’s with you!”
I stand between Caro and Gullek and catch Gullek’s fist; I guess he didn’t think that the fist he’s so proud of would be blocked. Gullek who makes a surprised expression. In comparison to Shishou’s and Gilgas’ punches, a punch of this extent is too light.
“Me? I’m Caro’s fiance. You tried to hurt somebody’s fiancee. Prepare yourself, alright?”
I’ll focus on his face and beat him to a pulp.
