To The Royal Palace
I, who parted with Priscilla-san and others, hurriedly returned to where everybody is. I go near the door which is the meeting place and everybody has already assembled.
“Sorry, did I keep everybody waiting?”
“You sure are late huh. Even if I say that, I had Dargris go and call you because everybody assembled too quickly though”
, says Alexia who laughs. What, it’s not that I’m late huh. And then all of us return to where the knights-san are. We’ve kept them waiting for nearly an hour.
“Oh? Is everybody already done?”
“Eeh, we were able to have our fun”
And then everybody boards the carriage. Perhaps the knights-san also felt that it’s time, they begin the preparation for the departure, and then begin to move ahead.
Inside the carriage, it got lively with various conversations such as, what we saw, what we bought, and so forth. However, it’s messed up that Dargris dropped a bomb when I was asked though.
“By the way, Lei. Who’s that girl just now? She was talking intimately with you just now though?”
Is what he said. Alexia and the others who heard that ask me tons of questions with expressions where their faces are smiling but their eyes aren’t smiling. I couldn’t really get them to believe me even though I tell them that she’s just an employee. I’m being bombarded with questions by Alexia and the others, and Dargris was to the side laughing like he’s having fun. Dargris, you better remember this.
We’re being shaken in the carriage even as such things were happening for about 30 minutes. We finally arrived at the Main Shrine inside the Sun・Berk Palace so everybody alights. Maybe it’s because an advance announcement has been sent there, there are maids are lining up in a row, and coming from the Main Shrine’s entrance was a graceful woman who looks to be about in her late 20s from her appearance, and standing behind that woman was an old man who wore a tailcoat.
“It’s been a while, Alexia-chan and Ferris-chan”
She talks to the two of them. Which means this person is
“It has been a long time, Chris-sama. Lei, this person is Pope Guildford’s wife, Christina・Arcadia-sama”
As I thought, it’s the Pope’s Oku-san1 huh.
“You’re Leivelt・Runwalker huh. My daughter’s fiance?”
“Ye, yes, I am the Nanor Kingdom, Margrave Runwalker’s son, Leivelt・Runwalker”
“……I’ll say it right from the start, I won’t forgive you if you do anything that hurts that child”
“Heh? Of course……?”
I wonder why she says something like that? As I’m looking at Christina-sama while thinking that it’s odd,
“Well, fine. I have no intention to find fault with the engagement that that person decided anyway. Alright then, shall we go inside”
Christina-sama says and proceeds to the Main Shrine. Did I somehow do something that angers her? I don’t get it.
Even while I’m thinking about such things, we follow her. It seems she’ll first show us to each of our rooms. On the first floor is the male group and the female group was led to the second floor. Furthermore, it’s one person per room. Dargris who saw the inside was delighted about the fact that it’s tremendously spacious though.
And then as I’m arranging my baggage alone in the room, there’s a knock on the door. I respond to it and
“Excuse me”
a maid said and entered. It’s a young woman who’s not even 20 yet.
“Please to meet you. My name is Mery”
“Haa. Is there something that you need from me?”
Really, I wonder what she wants. Or rather, I’m being glared at tremendously. I wonder, am I being hated at this place. I’m a little shocked.
“Before you meet Caroline-sama, may I have you refuse the Pope on this engagement and go back?”
“……Huh?”
I wonder what this person is talking about. I came here specifically to meet her, even if I told to refuse and go back before I meet her, I won’t go ‘Yes, I got it’, right.
“I understand that I am saying something strange. But, I do not want to see the sight of Caroline-sama getting hurt more than this! Please, I beg you!”
The maid who says and lowers her head. I don’t get it the meaning of it all. What in the world is going on. As I’m pondering on what I should say
“I will be troubled if you do things as you like, Mery”
a golden hair good-looking guy said and entered the room. The maid who saw thatーーMery-sanーーlooks at that good-looking guy in astonishment. And then her face turns pale and she starts to tremble. I wonder who’s this person.
“M, my apologies, Pope-sama”
Eh? Is this person the Pope? A tremendously good-looking guy with golden swept-back hair and about 180 in height. Indeed, he’s wearing extravagant-looking clothes. I thought it’ll be somebody sterner since he’s annihilated several hundred Demon Races though……. Nevertheless, I can tell that he’s someone who possesses quite the strength.
“Mery. I understand your feelings as well. I myself don’t want to see the sight of Caro being sad. But, you understand as well that it is not good for Caro to live her life alone like this, right?”
“……Yes”
“I’m sorry but bear with it”
The Pope who says that to Mery-san and faces my direction.
“Nice to meet you, I am Guildford・Arcadia who governs this country. My apologies that our meeting turned out like this, Leivelt・Runwalker-kun”
“No, I do not mind. Nice to meet you, I am the Nanor Kingdom, Margrave Runwalker’s son, Leivelt・Runwalker. I will be in your care, Your Honour”
“I’ll be in your care. Alright then, I’m sorry for having you do it immediately, but can I have you meet Caro?”
Eh. All of a sudden is it.
