The Reincarnated Boy’s Growth Log ~The Harder I Work The Stronger I Can Become!?~ Idle Talk 11
Imperial Capital
“As I thought, it sure is bustling〜”
I thought at the scenery I see from inside the shaking carriage. Looking at such me, Alexia, who sits in front of me, giggles. ……what is it?
“That’s of course. It’s said to be the town with the largest population on the continent after all”
Largest on the continent huh. We’ve currently, left the domain’s mansion, and we arrived at the Imperial Capital Grahalm. Imperial Capital Grahalm is, as Alexia just said, a large city that has the most people gathering on the continent.
Its population is about 500 thousand people. A tenth of the number of people in the Regalia Empire is, residing in this Imperial Capital.
If I were to say why we’re at such a place, it’s because about two weeks ago, Regalia Empire’s messenger came all the way to the domain.
I’d heard from the King previously that the Regalia Empire will hold a party for the sake of establishing a cordial relationship, but a messenger actually came and handed us an invitation letter.
General Melia and so forth stopped us, saying it’s a trap, but since it’d already been decided that we’re going, everybody, albeit reluctantly, gave in.
The ones who came to the Imperial Capital were, Alexia and me. Chrona, as Alexia and my maid. General Melia, Dargris, and Birdon, as escorts. Ely and Shizuku, and about two thousand Nanor soldiers that are General Melia’s subordinates came along as Alexia’s escorts.
My remaining fiances are watching the house at the domain’s mansion. Even if they say it’s to establish a cordial relationship, there’s no guarantee that there’s nobody who hates us. There’s no way I’ll bring everybody to such a dangerous place after all.
Helen is staying behind as the acting magistrate, General Melia’s second-in-command has gathered the other soldiers and is staying behind at the domain for us. There’s Caro when it comes to the defence, and in the off-chance that it turns into a battle, Ferris and Aerith are around as well. Cait and the others are staying behind as well, so it’ll probably be alright.
“Still, it’s so lively that one wouldn’t imagine that it’s post-war. It’s vastly different from the villages we passed by so far”
The villages on the way to the Imperial Capital, each and every one of the villages had no liveliness, had no energy. On top of that, the only ones in the village are women, children, and the elderly. There were still no young men yet.
From what we heard, it seems that even though the war ended, the men who left for conscription still haven’t returned. They’ve been sent letters, so they don’t seem to be dead though.
“Are they, still scheming something?”
“We don’t know about that, but if they try to attack again, the other countries won’t keep quiet. The war wrapped up because of something like that after all”
No matter how much we think about it, their goal doesn’t come to mind. As the two of us are groaning, ‘un un‘, there’s suddenly the sensation of something warm sticking tightly to me from the side. I took a look, wondering what it is, and Chrona was sticking to me.
“What’s wrong, Chrona?”
While poking Chrona’s cheeks that are puffing up for some reason, I try asking her and
“……it is lonely that only the two of you are talking!”
she says to me. When Alexia and I looked at each other, we ended up laughing. What an adorable fellow. I carry Chrona up and sit her on my lap. Chrona panics, but it’s probably easier to talk if it’s like this.
“My bad, Chrona. It’s probably easier to talk like this. That’s right, Chrona. I’m thinking of buying souvenirs for everybody at the Imperial Capital; what do you think would be good?”
After that, until we arrive at the Imperial Castle, the three of us all think about what souvenir would be good.
◇◇◇
As the three of us are getting excited about what souvenir would be good, the door was knocked from the outside. When we open the window, General Melia was bringing her horse closer to the carriage.
“What’s the matter?”
“Yes. We reached the Imperial Capital’s Imperial Castle, so it is almost time to get ready”
“Got it”
We prepare to alight the carriage. Even though I say prepare, there’s nothing particular to do though. The baggage is inside the Item Ring after all.
“Chrona. Don’t separate from us for the most part. If we end up separating during the audience or whatnot, make absolutely sure to be beside General Melia or someone. Don’t be by yourself no matter what, alright?”
“Understood”
Chrona nods meekly. I think the Empire’s side won’t do anything either as far as it goes since they’re touting establishing a cordial relationship, but it’s so that something on the off chance doesn’t happen. I convey the same thing to everybody as well.
And then the shaking carriage stops. The door opens from the outside, and we alight in sequence, starting from Alexia. When we alight the carriage and look around, we were being surrounded by Regalia soldiers. A tall and thin old man comes out from amongst them.
“Welcome. I am this country’s Prime Minister, Brooklyn・Jean MacArthur”
“Eeh, I am Alexia・Nanor. We will be counting on you during our sojourn”
They probably wanted to make it so that the Empire’s side overall has the advantage slightly. That’s why they surround us with this number of soldiers, and the Prime Minister speaks to us haughtily. However, unfortunately, Alexia is also used to something of this extent. She was responding with ease.
“……darn lass. Well then, come”
He enters the Imperial Castle while making a bitter look. I guess you can say he’s pissed off that it didn’t go as he planned. Is it alright for a Prime Minister to show his emotions that easily? I don’t really know though.
However, we’ll be entering the tiger’s den from here on out. The soldiers can’t follow us all the way in here. We don’t know what will happen, so we have to be careful. It’s just that, if they even try to lay their hands on my companions, then they better be ready for it.
“I’m counting on the three of you”
『Understood nano, Master!』
『Please leave it to me, Aruji-sama』
I have two of the spirits follow Alexia, me, and the escorts in case something happens. It seems I can talk to the spirits even from afar, so they’re in charge of communications when something happens. I had Light stay behind at the domain.
The preparation is done with this. Alright, I guess let’s go.
