Outburst Of Anger
“What’s the matter?”
Alexia, who’s peeking in from behind, perhaps thought it was strange that I fell silent, asks me.
“Aah, there’s a little something that shouldn’t be there”
“Something that shouldn’t be there?”
Alexia tilts her head; the woman looks at me uneasily. I grasp the Madam’s right hand and lift it in a way that it’s visible to the 2 of them. And then I point at a certain spot.
“Onee-san. This black naevus that’s on Madam’s right hand, it’s there since the time the Madam’s physical condition deteriorated, right?”
When I say that to the woman, the woman makes a surprised expression. ……As I thought huh.
“How, how did you know? It’s exactly as you said, this black naevus emerged since two years ago, around when Okaa-san’s physical condition deteriorated. It’s initially quite small but……”
It’s become glaringly big now. As I thought.
“What on earth is that?”
Over there, Alexia asks me. I can’t, not, talk about it huh. I look in the woman’s direction and say.
“…..This is a kind of Dark Magic. It’s a magic of curse, so to speak”
Alexia raises a surprised voice and the woman also looks at me with her eyes wide open when I say that. It’s one of the simple Dark Magic; it’s a magic that won’t cause the one who’s cursed to die right away, but it’ll slowly torment them over a long time. It’s said that the Madam was frail to begin with. On top of that, there’s this curse. It ought to be rather agonizing.
“There’s only 1 person who will do something like that”
I say that while scratching my head. Alexia nods at what I just said. I don’t know whether he placed this, or whether he made someone place this, but I suppose it’s the Baron who did it. I guess her dying of illness is better on the reputation than a divorce. It appears that he has a lover as well after all. I suppose for the Baron, the Madam was a hindrance.
“Can, can Okaa-san be saved?”
Knowing that the cause of the illness is a curse, the woman makes an even more uneasy look. It appears that she still doesn’t know who did it, but I guess there’s no need to talk about it now either.
“It’ll be alright if it’s something of this extent. Light”
“Yes, I am here”
Those around were surprised by Light, who appeared behind on my call. I asked him to run a little errand until now, and he just came back.
“The One Who Severs”
I hold my hand over the naevus while saying that. Light is absorbing Magic Power from me along with that. Not too much was taken this time around huh. And then
“Activate”
A light comes out of the palm that I held aloft. When that light hit the naevus, the naevus rapidly disappeared. It ended somewhat unsatisfyingly easily.
“She’s fine with this. All that’s left is for her to rest”
The woman holds her mother in her arms and hugs her tightly while crying when I say that. I guess looking at her mother, who’s debilitating day by day, had her feeling uneasy. If she showed it to a shrine’s sister, one who can use Light Magic, she could probably have her dispel the curse, but the woman didn’t know that this was a curse.
It appears that she’d also had a doctor look at her, but it seems it was brought by the Baron, so who knows if it’s someone who has the Baron’s backing and was told to hide it, or if that doctor didn’t know about the curse either. Or, there’s no doctor in the first place huh. Well, it’s something that no longer matters now though.
“Alright then, you people. Don’t do stupid things like just now and rebuild the town!”
Alexia, who saw that the Madam recovered, speaks to the residents while clapping her hands. Which means to start the securing of places where the residents can live and the tidying up of the goblins’ corpses from now on.
The men who were surrounding the Madam and her daughter just now are under Superintendent Alexia, and they had been selected for the tidying up of the goblins’ corpses. Alexia was saying that this will be their punishment.
Originally, they’d be condemned if they laid their hands on a noble’s wife, but there were also parts that couldn’t be helped this time around. That’s how horrible what the Baron did was.
As for the Baron, he was deemed to have been negligent on the reporting of the goblins and have violated the royal decree. Originally, this too would result in the entire household being sentenced to the stripping of the Baron title, but the culprit, which is the Baron, is nowhere to be found, and the Madam was also a victim. I guess there’s leeway for exoneration. It’s dependant upon the King whether or not the son will inherit this piece of land though. Well, I guess the Baron will be sentenced to death as soon as he’s found.
Everybody was cooperating and tidying up the inside of the territory after that. All of us take the corpses outside and pile them up. Aerith and I burn them one after another; is the workflow.
Of course, the goblins and the soldiers were separated. All of us sent them off to heaven while dedicating our silent prayers when it comes time for the soldiers. When I see the comrades and family members who cry at the sight of the cremation, I can’t help but think about whether there’s a slightly better solution. It might be too late to regret about it now at this point though.
By the time we finished tidying up the corpses in the territory to a certain extent, the sun has also already set and night fell.
We treated everybody to the food that’s in the mansion afterwards. There wasn’t much, but it appears that we somehow distributed it to everyone. After that, I guess everybody’s exhaustion had been accumulating; there are those who return to their homes and sleep, and those without homes are all gathering and sleeping outside.
We built several makeshift sheds while it’s still noon, but it appears that it wasn’t enough. It’s just constructed simply with Earth Magic after all.
Alexia and the others had also gone to the mansion and rest. I guess they’re mentally exhausted for various reasons. In the mansion’s undamaged rooms, are the Madam and her daughter, and Alexia and the others. Besides that, we’re letting the sick and the wounded rest there. The residents agreed to this as well.
In the midst of that, I didn’t sleep and came around to a certain place.
“Did they take refuge here?”
“Yes, there is no mistake”
Where I came around to; is a mountain that’s at a place about 20 kilometres away from the Baron’s territory and it’s a spot at the foot of that mountain that has a cave.
I sent Light after the goblins when they escaped. For the sake of striking their hideout. And then, I came, led by Light, who discovered the hideout.
“What’s inside?”
“There is nothing but goblins. It is a given for the men, and it appears that the women were eaten by the goblins after they finished giving birth as well. On top of that, it is that number. I suppose they came around because there was insufficient food”
There’s a village near here, and there were goblins there as well. We annihilated all of them, but there’s nobody inside. I guess all of the villagers; they had either been killed or brought to this main base and raped. On top of that, they were eaten at the end.
Fuu, it’s times like this that I should take deep breathes. It’s pointless even if I were to give in to anger and go on a rampage. Let’s go about it calmly. I want to test that out as well after all.
“Let’s do it, Light”
“Yes”
I say and proceed towards the cave. Goblins. My bad, but I’ll have you guys take on my outburst of anger and become my test subjects.
