100 Plus vs 3 Thousand
We, who engage the goblins. However, looking at it closely, there are all kinds of goblins.
In the lead are ordinary goblins, and those are developed hobgoblins. Goblin Soldiers, that appear when goblins possess swordsmanship skills, along with the Goblin Archers that possess archery skills. Those holding staves are Goblin Magicians that possess some kind of magic skills; and the commanders, the Goblin Generals. And at the furthest back are the leaders that unify all of them, the Goblin Kings.
About 2500 are ordinary goblins, and the remaining of almost 400 are Higher-Species goblins. About 30 Goblin Generals along with 3 Goblin Kings.
Those troops head over here. And then, at about 1 kilometre of distance remaining, the goblins stop their movements. It looks as though they’re forming files. Advancing bit by bit while lining up the Goblin Archers, that ready their bows, and Goblin Magicians, that hold their staves, in the lead.
“Hii!”
The soldiers, who saw that scene, shriek. I guess that can’t be helped either huh. A horde of this extent isn’t something that’s often seen. It might be a surprisingly valuable experience.
Having moved until they’re at a remaining distance of about 300 metres, within a stone’s throw away, the Goblin Generals shout. At that moment, the Goblin Archers and Goblin Magicians, that stand in the lead, begin their attack. About 100 arrows along with about 20 blasts of various magic. Those aim and rain down at the Baron Territory.
However, I can’t let it go their way so easily.
“Wind Magic Wind Burst”
I target the middle of the arrows and magic that rain down and materialise a lump of wind. It’s an orb of wind that’s about 3 metres in diameter. The moment that orb hit the arrows that were shot, the orb of wind ruptures. And then, a gust of wind blows fiercely from within and blows the arrows and magic away.
The magic was erased, the arrows broke and went astray, and they didn’t reach our location, even if they did reach, the number is few, and the soldiers were able to deal with it without panicking.
A Goblin King that was watching roars annoyedly and draws the sword on its waist. It’s a greatsword that corresponds with its almost 2.5 metres enormous body. It raises it high up into the sky
“GiigaaaAA!”
and shouts. In that instant, as though substituting the Goblin Archers and Goblin Magicians that were standing in the lead, the goblins start running. It looks like it’s the real deal from here on out.
Alexia also gives instructions to the soldiers and the soldiers fire their arrows as well. However, because their numbers are few to begin with, it’s not very significant. Some arrows hit the goblins that stand in the lead, and that’s pretty much it. The goblins that collapsed were trampled by the goblins that run behind but that’s all.
I guess if anything’s effective, it’s the magic of Alexia, Aerith and me. Alexia releases blades of water from Twin Bell and tears the goblins to pieces; Aerith materialises whirlwinds of flame, like the time with the village, and burns the goblins to cinders. I release several tens of the Lightning Spears that I’m proficient at and make them falter.
All of them make thunderous roars and kill the goblins, but as I thought, their ferocity in numbers is a menace. Immediately, the goblins behind fill the gap of the dead goblins and close in on us bit by bit.
It’ll be more close combat than magic from here on out. We look at each other’s faces and nod.
“Lightning Body Endowment, Weapon Endowment. High Healing Body Endowment”
As I thought, we probably have a higher chance of charging into that horde and surviving than the soldiers. In that case, the ones who stand in the lead are us.
“Eclat, escape if it gets dangerous, alright?”
“Kyuun!”
When I say that, Eclat goes, ‘Humph’, and turns away. I’m begging you, please escape. I start running even as I’m making a bitter smile. If I charge too far, I’ll end up not being able to return when the strategy advanced, so I guess I’ll cut down the goblins at the front.
“Oraa!”
I mow down with Rolgar at the goblin that stands in the lead. The goblins around flood at me, who came attacking. Alright, alright, gather more. I’ll drive off all of you!
Because there’s nothing but goblins in the surroundings, I can swing Rolgar without bothering about the surroundings. I sweep Rolgar horizontally, and smash and send the goblins’ heads flying. They brandish their clubs at me, so I repel and stab them. If Rolgar doesn’t make it in time, I kick and send them flying.
Taking a glance in everybody’s directions, the soldiers are fighting while forming a circle with about five people per group. I suppose they’re making sure that they don’t get taken from behind.
Alexia endows her pair swords, Twin Bell, with Water Magic and tears the goblins to pieces.
Aerith, she endows Heat Haze(Kagerou) with Fire Magic, and like Alexia, she slashes the goblins. What’s slightly different is, the fact that the goblins’ gashes catch fire. It’s one of the abilities of Heat Haze(Kagerou) huh.
Cait makes full use of his speed; he slashes and stabs the goblins throats. He also occasionally mixes in martial arts and attacks with hit-and-run.
Ely swings her gigantic axe, Barbatos, around. It appears that, like me, Ely is swinging her axe without holding back because there’s nothing but goblins in the surroundings. Heads of the goblins that Barbatos hit are being split. It’s quite grotesque.
I too, while paying attention to the surroundings, defeat the goblins one after another. In the middle of that,
“Kyu, Kyu, Kyururun, Kyuu! Kyu, Kyu, Kyuu!”
……above my head, Eclat is chirruping merrily. Why does she look like she’s enjoying herself so much? Her head is also shaking in tune with the sound. She’s moving her head quite a bit in all directions, and yet she doesn’t seem bothered at all. How amazing.
“GiiGAaaAA!”
Over there, perhaps it couldn’t stand watching the goblins get killed, a Goblin General comes towards where I am. Its size is slightly bigger than me, and it’s holding a slightly worn-out two-handed sword. It then brandishes its two-handed sword at me.
I avert the Goblin General’s sword attack with ease. The Goblin General, that got irritated by that fact, its attack becomes a massive swing. I won’t let that opening slip.
I avert my body sideways and avoid the Goblin General’s two-handed sword that it aimed and thrust at me, and I get in close on the Goblin General as it is. I then amass Magic Power in my left hand, aim at the Goblin General’s abdomen, and punch at it.
My left hand, that enters as though it’s sucked into the Goblin General’s abdomen. The Goblin General, that ate that wholly, was sent flying and dragged in the goblins behind. My fist sank in fairly deeply huh.
Looking at the Goblin General that’s defeated disappointingly quickly, the goblins, they move away step by step whenever I take a step forward. At a time like that
“Lei! The magic is finished! Let’s get going!”
I hear Alexia’s voice. Even in such a rough-and-tumble war, Alexia’s dignified voice sounds as though it’s speaking right by my ear. I guess that’s what they call a crystal clear voice.
The soldiers are already running all to the way to the gate’s location. ……their numbers have reduced by nearly half though. Following that, Cait and Ely, who’d been entrusted with the escort, pass through the gate. Alexia and Aerith mangle the goblins on that side, not letting them pass easily. I’m the only one left huh.
“GiiGAaa!”
I take a glance in the Goblin Kings’ direction and, 1 out of the 3, is pointing its greatsword in our direction and shouting, as though it’s saying, ‘quickly kill them!’. Judging by that, they’ll probably chase after us right away.
I too, sprint towards where the gate is while shaking off the goblins. And then, when I finally arrive at where the gate is, together Alexia and Aerith, I enter the territory. Naturally, the goblins are following behind as well.
We sprint until the middle and over there,
“I’m counting on you two!”
and Alexia turns towards the left. Aerith turns towards the right while nodding. My destination is the opposite gate of the gate we entered. I’ll run all the way there. If I move too far away from the goblins, they’ll end up going to where the two of them are, so I proceed at a moderate speed.
I then go to the top of the gate and activate my magic. It looks like Alexia and Aerith also activated their magic.
“Lightning Magic Lightning Tempest!”
“Water Magic Maelstrom!”
“Fire Magic Chaos Inferno!”
We each cast the magic that we’re respectively proficient at. Alexia materialises a gigantic whirlpool of water and washes away the goblin; Aerith materialises a hell flame-like pitch-black flame and burns everything to cinders. I blow the goblins away with a storm of lightning.
What’s audible is only the goblins’ death throes. All of us are materialising it in a way that we don’t damage the mansion as far as possible, but it’s quite powerful. If there are houses that are burning here and there; there are also houses that are swept and crumbled by the water.
Perhaps it’s also thanks to that power, none amongst the goblins that were dragged into these magic are moving though.
Including the magic in town as well, I think we defeated nearly half of them, but because Alexia, Aerith and my attacks are from 3 directions, there are no casualties to the goblins that had remained at the gate that’s used as the entrance. The Goblin Kings are also amongst that.
I guess they saw the magic just now and thought that they couldn’t win. They’re retreating from the entrance. It went better than I’d thought, but I guess this is because we sacrificed the territory.
Because the inside of the territory is being partitioned with walls, they didn’t have anywhere to escape, so we could defeat them to this extent, but even if we materialise the magic just now outside, there probably won’t be much effect.
However, it’s the truth that we were able to protect the residents. There are plenty of things that have to be considered variously because of this territory’s matter, but as for now, I guess it’s fine to rejoice huh.
“Kyuu Kyu!”
Eclat also smacks my head like she’s saying, ‘Well done!’.
I guess we’ll first join up with Cait and the others, who are in the mansion.
