To The Demihuman Country
“……It, it’s tiring huh, Hardt-san”
“Aah, I didn’t think that she’d actually hate it to that extent”
I sit back on the chair and sigh. Yesterday’s Mylene was terribly intense. I didn’t think that she’d actually hate to separate with me to that extent.
The night that I decided to go to the Demihuman Country. Naturally, there’s no way I can keep Mylene in the dark and leave so I immediately talk to her about the Demihuman Country’s current situation and the fact that I’m going there.
Mylene, of course, said she’ll follow along, but it’s just too dangerous this time around so I convinced her to stay behind……but, I was met with tremendous resistance. It’s so much so that I can’t put it into words.
When she hugged me saying that she didn’t want to be separated from me, brought me into the room, and was about to tie me up with chains, as one would expect, I panicked. After that, I spent an entire night and was able to somehow convince her.
“Kuku, I guess that’s how lonely Mylene is to be separated from Master. Didn’t you use up all your luck as a man, my dear Master”
Liscia who sits beside me pokes my flank with her elbow teasingly. I thought for a moment to toss her head out of the window but, I somehow control myself.
Although she’s calmed down when we depart, I’m still slightly worried. Perhaps she could tell that I’m worrying about Mylene, Liscia looks at me and laughs, ‘Nyufufu’. It’s fine if I don’t control myself, right.
“Waaa!? Wa, wait, Master! Ah, stop grabbing my head! My head is gonna come off!?”
I’m grabbing onto Liscia’s head and Liscia is stopping me from doing that. After a while of this back and forth, Mars comes in between and stops us. Shit, even though just a little bit more and I would’ve gotten it.
“Haa, haa……th, that was close. A little more and my head would’ve come off”
“I mean, I was trying to remove it. And, what’s with that laugh just now? I’m gonna grab onto it again if you don’t quickly say it, alright?”
“I don’t have any strange intention behind it. It’s just, isn’t it great that you have a precious someone. Until recently, even though you didn’t have any intention of dying before you finish what you set out to do, you were doing things that are quite dangerous. Like the bangle and the necklace”
……A precious someone huh. It’s true that Mylene is my precious thing so I’d hate to leave her behind and die first. It’s indeed as Liscia says if I think about it that way, but somehow it’s irritating to have it pointed out by Liscia. I silently
“Wha! Why are you grabbing onto my head again!? St, stop it! It, it’s gonna come offf!!”
and forcefully yank out Liscia’s head. I pull it out with enough force to seemingly make a popping sound and grab her head with both hands. Her body is flailing her arms and her head is looking at me with teary eyes.
I make a broad grin and whisper by Liscia’s ear. Thereupon, Liscia freezes and her face very quickly turns red.
I then return her head to her body and, she timidly attached her head, looked at the window and stopped moving. Mars asks me about what I said but, I just slightly expressed my gratitude. She’s my precious thing too. I’ve gotta occasionally give her my thanks.
“Ne, nevertheless, it is a nice scenery huh. To think that we can see the ground from the sky!”
Maybe because he couldn’t stand the strange atmosphere, Mars peeks out the window and frolics looking at the scenery. It’s because the ride we are currently using to go all the way to the Demihuman Country is something unique.
What we are currently riding is a monster that belongs to the Dragon Species called Wyverns. Dragon Species’ temperament is fundamentally wild and even a weak one possesses enough strength to bring a town down.
Amongst the Dragon Species, Wyverns are divided into Flying Dragon Species, their characteristics are their razor-sharp claws and that they have large wings instead of forelegs. Although a Wyvern that’s out in the wild would be something that’s quite dangerous, it seems it’s possible to raise them as mounts if they’re hatched from eggs.
It seems that even amongst that, the Wyvern we’re currently riding is a unique Wyvern of the royal family’s personal use. Well, I guess it’s because it’s Melda who’s the Second Princess who uses it. It seems its body is close to two times larger than ordinary Wyvern, and it seems its speed and strength is also different. I don’t know how different it is since I never rode an ordinary Wyvern before though.
It seems we’ll arrive from the Kingdom to the Demihuman Country in half a day if it’s this Wyvern. It’s quite fast if I take into consideration that it takes an ordinary Wyvern two days. Nevertheless, even an ordinary Wyvern is more than enough though. Since it seems we’d have to resolve ourselves for a one month trip if we plan to go on a carriage.
“That is!?”
As I’m thinking, ‘I want a Wyvern~’, and gazing at the scenery that’s visible from the window, Melda who sits at the seat in front raises her voice.
Melda who raised her voice was also gazing at the outside from the window. I wonder if there’s something. I also get close to the window and look outside from behind Liscia and……aa, that huh. Quite a number of people are battling on the ground.
I can only see it as little black dots squirming about with my eyes but Melda can probably tell who’s that. And then, judging from her reaction, it looks like the Demihuman Country is fighting the Empire.
After Melda saw that spectacle, she takes a look at us and tells the driver who controls the Wyvern to proceed forward.
“Melda, let’s get off”
“Eh? B, but……”
“In any case, we’ll be taking on the Empire. I suppose it’s no difference even if we do it now. Liscia is also feeling itchy”
“I, I’m not feeling itchy! I’m just feeling slightly excited!”
……It feels like it’s not that much different though. And the exact opposite of that is Mars who’s clattering and feeling nervous. Well, it’ll be great if he gets a little used to it with this battle.
